Ten ways to spend a day in a jeepney

Well, unlike I initially thought, the title of this entry can't be ten ways to spend a rainy day... since it hasn't rained so far. Which sure makes a girl smile!

But not smile with such a toothless grin as this guy, who simply insisted he be in my photo. To the extent, that as I focused on something else he sprinted round until he was back in the shot. So - here are his dentures for you. Here, in the background, are also some jeepneys - local transport of choice used for short trips. They travel a fixed route and you just jump on and off at suitable locations en-route for a nominal price. Manila is simply bursting with jeepneys - most of which have personalized paintings and name - e.g. the appropriate "Smile" jeepney behind our toothless guy.
Jeepney name-spotting is a nice pastime. Today I spotted names such as Sweet Ride and Magnificant - but more often the names were more humble and religiously inclined - e.g. Praise the Lord, Joseph, Mary, Santo Nino, St.John - or some lesser saints, that I hadn't heard of before such as Michelle or Edna (patron saints of cheerleaders and little old ladies no doubt).

Well, may St.Edna be with you - and I'll be off to find some dinner.

Oonko mä menettänyt kokonaan näköni, vai onko siellä mullekin nimetty jeepney KNK (=KN-karavaani)? Täytynee nyt kuitenkin mennä sinne optikolle....
