Back on the seas

Important things first; Happy Birthday mum! Enjoy!

The sailing season is over back home, as Finland prepares to freeze over. However, here on the Bosphorus, the season never ends. Friendly old ferries ply the seas from shore to shore and for the reasonable sum of 70 cents you can go anywhere that they do. So I did.

It felt good to be back on the seas again! And with +17C and sunny, who can complain. Certainly not a Finn!

Since a big part of my kind of traveling is - well - traveling, it's good that I really enjoy local transport; trams (the picture below is from a tram ride yesterday), trains, ferries and such. The occasional pushing and shoving, the sometimes not being quite sure if you are actually in the right transport for the place you aim to get to, the peeling paint and hard seats are all part of the fun. As are the scenery, the little 20-cent cups of tea in delicate glasses brought to you by stewards and the helpfullnes of locals.

For exaple tomorrow I gather my kit again, take the tram 38 to Karakoy, transfer to the ferry to Haydarpasa, hop on a train for 6,5 hours to Ankara - and I don't know yet what I get on next to arrive at some kind of accommodation there. This is the life!

Hola chica,

muy bueno blogo, muy linda fotos, muy divertido historia!!

Just to make you at least a little, little bit homesick - first snow covered the roofs of Vikla block this morning. Beautiful and so much more light.

Well, maybe this just makes you feel more happy to be in a bit warmer climate. I hope you saw dolphins in Istanbul. They greeted us when we were having breakfast after Z&N wedding last spring.

Enjoy! And big hugs from the neighbors, we are watching your tenant ;-)
